Why Are Richard Mille Watches Worth So Much? My thoughts on Bamford & Hublot Revealed!
Jun 01, 2021 Season 1 Episode 5
Roman Sharf

Welcome to Episode 5 of Q&A Tuesday! Are we really talking about Richard Mille again? Yes, yes. There is no doubt that the Mille name continues to stir much interest which is why today's first question is one I'm happy to answer. It's true that Richard Mille watches may be a tad overpriced but he does justify his watchmaking and I'll go into more of that in this episode.

I'll also talk about Bamford, the first official customizer of Rolex watches. They were a pioneer in the industry when it came to customizing high-end watches and on the resale end, their watches resell very well.

Stay tuned to hear my answers to the following questions:

βš™οΈ Do you think that Richard Mille tourbillons are worth 6,7, $800,000? Or are they simply a gimmick for the ultra-rich to enjoy?

βš™οΈ Do you think that there is value in similar watches like the JLC Amvox 3? (Ceramic case tourbillon w/ dual time function)

βš™οΈ What are your thoughts on brands like Bamford or Titan Black and other watch customizers? Do you see any of their pieces ever become sought after in the market?

βš™οΈ What would you recommend as a beginner AP for a person with a small to medium size wrist?

βš™οΈ In your opinion which perpetual (past 15 years) gives the most bang per buck: JLC, AP Quantieme, or Patek 3940, which costs 2-3x more?

βš™οΈ What are your thoughts on the Hublot Big Bang Sapphire and its future value?

βš™οΈ Do you think Instagram has played a role in this? Seems like people just buy unoriginal well-known expensive shit so they can show off on IG. If it isn't recognizable to the masses, buyers have no interest.

πŸ’• BIG THANKS to Edward Ledin, Kuba KardΓ‘s, Michael Carter, Jack Black, Russxiang, and James Walker for their questions and comments!
